Therapy Fees and Insurance

Out of Pocket Fees

Below are our fees if you don't have insurance, choose not to use it, or have a PPO plan where you could possibly get reimbursed. (See our FAQ's below for more info).

Initial Diagnostic Session

$220

Our initial diagnostic session can last between 60-90 minutes.

Individual Therapy

$175

60 minutes. 

Individual Therapy

$125

30 minutes. 


Insurance We Accept

Below is a list of health insurances we accept. If you plan on using your insurance it is your responsibility to ensure that you have active coverage, know your copay/deductible/coinsurance, and inform us of a secondary insurance. *We require a credit card on file to cover fees incurred for all clients that have Commercial insurance.

Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

We accept BCBS Turquoise Care and Commercial plans. 

Presbyterian Health Plan

We accept Presbyterian Turquoise Care and Commercial plans. 

Molina

We accept Molina Turquoise Care. 

Fee for Service

We accept Medicaid Fee for Service plans. 


CCSS Services

CCSS is an HSD state funded program, therefore our CCSS services are provided to Medicaid/Centennial recipients at no cost.

Our probono services are full. We do not currently offer a sliding fee scale.

Frequently Asked Questions for Therapy Fees and Insurance

Lotus Flower Counseling is a trauma informed counseling service that provides mental health support to individuals (adults and adolescents) in need. We are proud to be an LGBTQ+ affirming, culturally aware, and trauma-informed counseling center. 


Our commitment to inclusivity and respect for diversity is at the core of everything we do. Our therapists undergo specialized training to ensure they provide affirming and supportive care to individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and cultural backgrounds. We create a safe and welcoming space where LGBTQ+ individuals and communities can feel valued, understood, and empowered to explore their experiences and identities without fear of judgment or discrimination. 


Additionally, our trauma-informed approach recognizes and respects the unique needs and experiences of each individual, providing compassionate care that promotes healing, resilience, and growth. At our counseling center, everyone is welcome, accepted, and supported on their journey towards emotional well-being. 


*We are pleased to offer counseling services in Spanish and Russian to better serve the diverse needs of our community.

Lotus Flower Counseling offers a variety of counseling services, including individual therapy for adults and adolescents (13+). Services include therapy for relational trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, and ADHD. 


Yes. We provide telehealth services to better serve our rural community, if you have trouble commuting to our office, or if it's a preference. As long as you reside in New Mexico, we can provide therapy via telehealth no matter which part of the state you live in. 


We accept credit cards, cash, and HSA cards. You must upload a credit card via the client portal, in order to schedule your first appointment (this does not apply to Medicaid recipients).


We use Simple Practice as our secure electronic records system. If you are already a client, you can access it here: client portal.


You may be eligible to use your out-of-network insurance benefits for our sessions. If needed, we can provide a superbill, which you will be able to submit to your insurance provider. You are responsible to pay the full fee at the time of session.


Please call your insurance company to verify this information prior to our session if you are looking to use your insurance provider.


A superbill is a document that contains information about the services you received during a therapy session, including the date of the service, the type of service, a diagnosis and the cost of the service. When you pay for a therapy session out-of-pocket, you can request a superbill from your therapist, which you can then submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.


If your insurance provider covers out-of-network services, they may reimburse you for a portion of the cost of the therapy session. The amount of reimbursement can vary depending on your specific insurance plan and the type of service you received.


To use a superbill, you will need to submit it to your insurance provider along with any other required documentation, such as a claim form. Your insurance provider will then review the superbill and other documents to determine the amount of reimbursement you are eligible for.


It’s important to note that not all insurance providers cover out-of-network services, so it’s important to check your insurance plan to see if you are eligible for reimbursement. Additionally, the amount of reimbursement can vary depending on your specific insurance plan and the type of service you received, so it’s a good idea to talk to your insurance provider to understand what costs will be covered and what you will need to pay out-of-pocket.


Please be advised that your therapist will not be involved with the insurance company as it comes to your superbill. This is something the client handles on their end, and that the therapist does not have access to this information. 


You can call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:

  1. Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient therapy?
  2. What is my out-of-network deductible? (Your deductible is the amount you need to meet before your insurance company can start reimbursing for your sessions.)
  3. What percentage is covered for out-of-network therapy once I’ve met my deductible? (Here is when they’ll provide you with a percentage like 60% or 80% depending on your coverage.)
  4. My therapist typically uses CPT code 90837, what will be reimbursed for my psychotherapy session?
  5. Can you please instruct me on how to submit a claim for reimbursement?
  6. When should I expect reimbursement for my sessions?
