Her therapeutic lens is grounded in compassion, attunement, and the understanding that healing happens in relationship.
Dr. Burr is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Polyvagal Theory, and other trauma-informed modalities. She incorporates psychoeducation to help clients make meaningful connections between their past experiences and present patterns—empowering them to rewrite old narratives and build a more regulated, connected future.
She holds a PhD in Family Studies, an MA in Counseling, and a BS in Psychology, and previously served as an Assistant Professor of Counseling at the graduate level. She is also a certified Clinical Trauma Professional (IATP), trained in Infant Mental Health, and Circle of Security Parenting – Intensive.
Before founding Lotus Flower Counseling, Dr. Burr maintained a private practice for nearly three decades. Cecilia sees the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for real change and brings a grounded, compassionate presence that allows clients to explore their inner world with honesty, without pressure, judgment, or the need to hold it all together.

Cecilia helps clients understand how their nervous system and lived experiences shape their current behaviors, beliefs, and emotional responses—supporting them in building emotional regulation, setting boundaries, and reclaiming a sense of agency and self-trust.
